A new
MPE COBOL compiler and client gets previewed at HP World
AcuCorp (www.acucorp.com, HP World booth 564) set HP World as its coming-out party for Version 5.2 of extend5 with ACUCOBOL-GT, software that upon full release in October will let HP e3000 developers maintain existing COBOL applications with a full range of COBOL-based development tools. The company has seven engineers working on the port of its compiler to the MPE/iX systems, adding more modern programming technologies such as client/server, e-business and thin-client deployment capabilities. The thin client technology lets users display server-based applications on graphical display hosts; the deployment gives users the security and stability of having the code and runtime centralized on one machine. Developers can use an HTML front-end, COBOL and Acucorp CGI technologies to eliminate the need for a special runtime on the users machine. Copyright The 3000 NewsWire. All rights reserved |
