Amisys users reset their
conference
Within a week of the Sept. 11 tragedy in the US, users of the Amisys3000 applications postponed their Sept. 20 conference until November 13-15. Location remains the same: the Gaithersburg, Md. Marriott Washingtonian Center, not far from the headquarters of Amisys LLC in Rockville, Md. The Tuesday through Thursday meeting now has an expanded role for the CEO of Amisys LLC, Kathy McCarthy, as well as Amisys Steve Rock who will speak about the intent and future plans of Amisys, LLC, according to user group officer Kathy Childers. The users are expecting that Amisys will review each of the HIPAA transaction code sets at a very detailed level. The companys eight HIPAA presentations have been posted to the Amisys customer-only Web-site for review prior to the meeting, which are available under the sites Documentation section. Registration for the conference, which includes continental breakfasts and lunches along with a two-hour briefing on the future of Amisys, costs $150; hotel rooms are available at $179 per night by calling 800.228.9290. Users can send their contact information to register, and proposed questions to be asked of the Amisys LLC officials, to Childers by e-mail at kjchilders@arkbluecross.com; AMISYS, LLC will bill all client organizations for meeting registrants. The new meeting dates more nearly coincide with the completed acquisition of Amisys by Platinum Equity Holdings, a transaction expected to be complete sometime this month. Consultants and staff of the company providing healthcare software for the HP 3000 reported their paychecks were still bearing the name of McKessonHBOC through September, so questions about the companys future direction might have been answered with less detail if the meeting was held on its original schedule. Amisys users had a lot of company in rescheduling meetings after the tragedy; Internet World Fall, the Oracle Applications Users Groups fall meeting and Gartners Applications Development Summit were also postponed. Cognos cancelled its October conference altogether, advising its user base it would conduct a series of free User Days throughout North America; a schedule of the days through Nov. 15 is at the Cognos Web site at www.cognos.com/enterprise2001.
