M.B. Foster console tracks ODBCLink connections

M.B Foster Associates (www.mbfoster.com, 800.ANSWERS) has released MBF-Console, an add-on module for the users of the ODBCLink/SE middleware included with MPE/iX as well as users of M.B. Foster’s DataExpress version 5.58 or later. The MBF-Console, tier-priced between $500 and $3,000, lets database administrators and system managers monitor and control the links established during database operations that use ODBCLink/SE or ODBCLink.

The software lets managers know who is connected to databases using ODBC, and it can trouble-shoot a single ODBCLink or ODBCLink/SE connection without affecting all connections. The Console identifies the problem and then, if desired, terminates the process without bringing the listener and the remaining users down.

The MBF-Console accesses the ODBCLink listener to determine who is connected and what the load is on the system. It provides lists of listeners and ODBCLink connections to a single listener; details about a single ODBCLink connection through a graphical interface. Managers can change the logging level and view or filter the log file in real time by date and time or process (PIN). The Console also provides the ability to start and stop logging for a single process, or kill a PIN.
