HP
announced it was expanding its Designing the Future program to open
Partner Technology Access Centers (PTACs), help that lets software
vendors tailor applications to IA-64 designs for forthcoming
systems.
The e3000 division confirmed that HP e3000s are part of
the PTAC program, even though the platform and MPE/iX went
unmentioned in an HP press release about the PTACs. The Partner
Technology Access Centers include PA-RISC HP e3000 servers
today, said CSY press liaison Colleen Mueller. The PTAC
is available to HP e3000 ISVs who are members of the CSPP Program for
porting assistance and for certifying applications and tools on the
latest MPE/iX releases.
Such access centers were a key element in getting HP 3000
software moved to the PA-RISC technology in the late 1980s, when MPE
made its transition to MPE/XL. Mueller added that At the point
in the future that we are ready to begin early testing of MPE/iX on
IA-64 platforms, we will make these servers available to our ISVs to
help accelerate their development of IA-64-based
solutions.
