WRQ took another step toward delivering connectivity
services for e3000 customers with its mid-June shipment of the 4.0
version of Reflection for the Web. The software uses what WRQ calls
patent-pending component-based architecture. Users can
download only the features they need, even though new functionality
has been added to the product. The new design reduces the footprint
of the software to a thin client, according to WRQ officials.
Information technology managers who havent
looked at terminal emulation since adding an Internet browser to
their desktops need to take a look at whats available
today, said WRQ CEO and founder Doug Walker. Whether
its Web-based or Windows-based host access, our new solutions
make a huge difference in reducing IT costs, speeding remote access
and automating tasks. Its key to making legacy systems an asset
in e-business initiatives.
The newest version adds macro recording support to capture
and playback actions performed every day. WRQ said the macro feature
can eliminate steps from a users log-in process, for
example.
WRQ
has enhanced the integration of Reflection for the Web with
Reflection 8.0. Administrators that have enabled the Reflection Links
feature in 8.0 can centrally manage and dynamically distribute
Reflection for the Web terminal sessions. For enterprises with
requirements for both Windows and Web-based emulations, WRQ says the
feature provides a useful way for IT to quickly update Reflection
files.
Reflection for the Web 4.0 is priced at $199 per
concurrent license, with a per-user volume price of $115. A trade-in
price of $60 per seat is available to sites using other emulation
software.
