Speedware brings out MobileDev 2.0
for wireless development on 3000
Speedware
Corp. has released MobileDev 2.0, its software development tool
designed for mobile Internet applications. MobileDev enables the
rapid creation of wireless Internet apps, with full compliance with
evolving WAP standards and other wireless technologies.
The 2.0 version of
the software uses a wizard-driven, graphical interface, and is open
to server technologies including Java, Microsoft ASP, Perl and PHP.
It enables the development of both static and dynamic Web sites and
is compatible with the front end interface standards WML and HDML,
the two leading standards in North America. MobileDev also conforms
to the style guidelines of UP.Browser, the microbrowser used in more
than 90 percent of North American Internet enabled phones. The tool
also supports Openwaves microbrowser simulator, for testing of
both HDML and WML applications.
Yospace LLC has
also signed a contract with Speedware to integrate the Yospace
SmartPhone Emulator JavaBean Edition into MobileDev 2.0. The emulator
will enable testing and preview of applications with different models
of mobile devices while using MobileDev. Evaluation copies of
MobileDev 2.0 are available from the Speedware Web site at mobiledev.speedware.com. A
registered copy of MobileDev can be purchased from the site for $495
per developer seat. The downloadable trial copy provides users with a
fully functional tool, but limits access to some of the productivity
enhancing features.
