Newest Suprtool reduces number of passes for data
manipulation
Robelle (604.582.1700) has released Suprtool
4.4, which includes enhancements to accomplish data manipulation
tasks with fewer passes over data. The version also enables string
manipulation for both HP 3000 and HP-UX users. New string functions
for Suprtools If and Extract command allow strings to be
upshifted, downshifted, concatenated and trimmed. The enhancements
can be applied in processes such as formatting fixed address fields
of a database into a standard mailing label in a single step.
Searches for data which may be either uppercase or lowercase can
employ the new downshift/upshift functionality for a simpler If
statement.
The new version
also supports the increased capacities in IMAGE as of MPE/iX 6.5
Express 2. The new dataset limit is 2 billion records (more than 10
terabytes) and IMAGE now supports 1,200 items, 240 datasets and 64
paths for a Master dataset. Version 4.4 also uses persistent Redo
stacks in Suprtool, Suprlink and STExport. When users get back into
Suprtool, the task they last worked on is at the ready.
The 4.4 version of Suprtool is available for
free to users on a current support contract. Contact Robelle at www.robelle.com for more
information on pricing specific to each country.
Separately,
Robelle announced that Ecometry Corp. has adopted Robelles
Qedit for Windows editor for internal use across three core
departments. Robelle said that Qedit for Windows site license enables
Ecometrys programming team to use Qedit for Windows as the tool
of choice for source code development, while the Client Services
group plans to use Qedit for Windows to create and modify job streams
and Suprtool scripts for customers. The editor will also be installed
at Ecometrys training facilities in Delray Beach, Fla., to
provide customers taking classes with a modern interface to files
residing on the HP e3000. The company reported that over the last
year nearly 20 Ecometry customers have adopted Qedit for Windows,
including recent purchases by Lego Systems, Inc., Urban Outfitters,
and Design within Reach.
