Nobix
unveils 3.0 update of TranSpooler at HP World
At HP World, Nobix (925.227.5600) announced the
3.0 version of TranSpooler, its spoolfile relocation utility that
enables spoolfile transfer within a heterogeneous host environment.
The 3.0 version enables reports to be broadcast simultaneously to
multiple remote locations from a single HP e3000 host. The product
also offloads spoolfiles to networked or dedicated printers,
integrating MPE/iX, Unix, Linux, NT and Windows print distribution.
Reports may be prepared on one server platform and output on printers
connected to servers running a non-3000 environment.
Nobix
officials said TranSpooler 3.0 moves spoolfiles from one host to
another in either direction using a common transfer format. The
product also integrates smoothly with HP OpenSpool. This program
supports single threading to maintain sequential print order and
multi-threading for multiple, simultaneous spoolfile transfer.
TranSpooler 3.0 can also append user-defined banner pages
for distribution purposes, as well as speed report distribution by
sending documents through the network. To respond to changing network
conditions, the 3.0 version can be configured to reroute spoolfiles
on the fly without restarting the software. A TranSpooler
Configuration Manager and LogViewer running on Windows or NT systems
lets administrators configure, maintain, and troubleshoot networked
spoolfile traffic from any location.
TranSpooler can automatically route 20 types of
spoolfiles from three HP 3000s to a Unix-based Xerox printer that
prints data on complex forms, said Jay Bennett, System
Administrator at Humana. To specify the correct form on which
to print, TranSpooler identifies the spoolfile type and sends it to a
printer name that specifies the output form. This saves our print
shop from having to manually identify the correct output form for
each incoming spoolfile.
