More than four months after
acquiring the Open Skies company to deliver airline solutions using HP
3000s, the new operations marketing manager reported the company is
integrating well with CSY, creating new processes and yes, winning new
business. Keep in mind that Open Skies sales are for the service of
managing airline ticketing, not selling new HP 3000s. Roy Breslawski of the
operation said Two recent airlines added are Athabasca Airways in
Canada and Avior Express in Caracas, Venezuela. We have a couple of others
that have signed, but they are not ready for any public announcements. Stay
tuned later this year for some key announcements about some very high
profile wins.
Breslawski said that one of the
best aspects of this business is the customer decision process.
Its not based on operating system. It is based on what company is
providing the service. The HP 3000 is their number one choice to run the
reservation system because it is HPs number one choice. Thats
great to see. I wonder how many other markets that would hold true
in?
Open Skies is still facing a
challenge to hire experienced software engineers. We especially need
MPE application development capability, Breslawski said, which puts
him in company with many others in the MPE community. Growth has been
fast, but Id like to see it even faster. Were going to turn up
the heat even higher later this year and its a great opportunity for
software engineers who want the challenge. We have been very successful
recruiting, but there is an overall shortage of talented, experienced
software people. This is a much better challenge to have than some of the
alternatives.
