Interex started its hunt for MPE-based HP World content

Since the HP user group Interex will mount another conference next summer, complete with some HP 3000 instruction, the group put out a call for HP World papers. Jerry Fochtman, the perennial chief of HP World’s 3000 talks and co-chair of the papers committee at the last three HP Worlds, posted the call. But Fochtman added he is stepping away from HP World duties after years of service.

Fochtman said that HP World’s 2005 venue, San Francisco, is tempting. “The last time we were there was the first time I was on the committee, five or so years ago, so it would certainly be neat to return again,” he said. But the winner of this year’s HP e3000 Contributor Award said his family duties will take priority during the next six months; he’s a father of triplets. “With three seniors, I simply wouldn’t have the bandwidth in the spring with all the senior activities to really contribute,” to HP World, he said, “so it’s time someone else stepped in and had their opportunity.”

The user group is accepting papers on topics that include MPE, as well as HP-UX and “Heterogenous Environments/Migrations.” Interex says its MPE Track “will cover HP e3000 migration solutions, including new tools and technologies available to make the migration less costly. For those who are staying on the e3000 platform, this track will host a broad range of sessions to teach customers how to best support and maintain their e3000 environment for the long haul.” For more information on speaking opportunities at HP World 2005, browse to www.hpworld2005.com/conference/hpworld2005/hpw05_speak_04.jsp.
