IBM offered HP 3000 sites crossover training

IBM announced dates in June for its first Introduction to IBM iSeries for HP e3000 Professionals Workshop, a three-day training event that’s free. The workshop held at IBM’s Rochester, Minn. HQ for the iSeries “will present the iSeries value proposition to an HP e3000 business enterprise considering information technology modernization with iSeries.” Topics in the June 10-12 meeting include iSeries platform architecture, the OS/400 Operating System and the DB2 integrated relational database; IBM officials say they’ll talk about how tasks such as security, communications and application development are done from an MPE perspective and how they will be done using OS/400. Students can interact with the iSeries through class exercises using the system’s Navigator GUI. Rochester has direct air service from Chicago, and a check with the hotel maven at IBM showed the Hawthorne Suites on NW 43rd, or the Country Inn & Suites and the Microtel on Hwy. 52, as the closest to the IBM facility. That last hotel is only $44 a night, a great way to start saving if a migration is in your future. Register online at www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/service/itc/hp2iseries.html
