Neartek rounded up new channels for its MPE emulation tool

Neartek announced a pair of alliances to make its AMXW software more readily available to HP 3000 customers who want to use Unix systems in place of HP 3000s. HP business partner Acucorp will enable COBOL II migrations to ACUCOBOL-GT on HP-UX, Unix, Linux, and Windows. Neartek says its AMXW “automatically migrates all 3000 applications, databases and data files, user account information, interfaces, intrinsics, and MPE scripts to a native Unix operation on a wide range of the latest target open system platforms.” In the arrangement, Neartek will enhance AMXW to work with Acucorp’s products, and Acucorp will resell the AMXW tool to its customers.

Neartek also inked additional reseller pacts with Platinum Migration partners Speedware and MB Foster. The software could land HP 3000 customers on non-HP platforms, according to MB Foster founder Birket Foster. “AMXW preserves a customer's investment in their HP 3000 applications and data,” he said, “and gives customers a broad choice of platforms to move to, including HP-UX, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, Windows 2000 and Linux. A major benefit to our customers is that their applications will run exactly the same way as they did on the HP 3000, so no re-training is required.”

Speedware’s marketing director Chris Koppe said his company will use its international distribution base to help spread AMXW’s benefits. “AMXW is one of the most robust HP migration solutions available,” said Koppe. “It is a comprehensive solution that is both powerful and rapid and includes impressive features such as MPE emulation. AMXW completes our range of tools offerings and meets our customers’ needs. It is also an excellent solution for customers who wish to undertake the migration process themselves.”
