Nobix takes JobTime to network as JobQue

HP 3000 datacenter supplier Nobix is repositioning its JobTime batch processing scheduler as a network-ready application called JobQue. JobQue offers the flexibility of two batch schedulers in one. While JobQue’s main function is to automate long- and short-term schedules, JobQue also facilitates one-time changes to existing schedules.

As a part of the JobPak suite of data center management tools, JobQue integrates with the Nobix’s JobRescue error detection software, as well as ElectroPage, the Nobix online report viewing and print distribution software. All JobPak software is fully Y2K-compliant. Nobix officials at HP World said the latest 6.1 version features enhancements to increase reliability and improve performance.

Nobix also announced its TranSpooler 3.0 print distribution solution for spoolfile management across HP 3000s, HP-UX and Windows NT systems. The cross-platform software configures and maintain all aspects of sending and receiving processes on all platforms, in any location, running from one group of centralized Windows-based client applications. The TranSpooler Configuration Manager (TCM) and LogViewer lets system administrators log onto any host on the network to configure and maintain the spoolfile transfer processes, or view the real-time and historic log files. Server software has been enhanced with more robust security and backups for configuration and log files.

Customers with a current Nobix maintenance agreement get a free upgrade to TranSpooler 3.0, TCM, LogViewer, and the MPE/iX server software as part of normal maintenance. The new 6.1 release of JobPak and TranSpooler’s 3.0 release requires MPE/iX 5.0 or later.
