OpenTURBO client ported to Microsoft Windows

HP 3000 migration and database tools supplier iMaxsoft (408.253.8808) announced that it has ported its OpenTURBO client software to the Microsoft Windows environment. Company officials said the port enables HP 3000 sites which are developing applications using Windows 98, 2000, NT or XP workstations to access Oracle databases on HP 9000s and TurboIMAGE on HP 3000 without any extra middleware, such as ODBC or SQLNet. The OpenTURBO client previously only ran on HP-UX or Linux development workstations.

iMaxsoft said that OpenTURBO reduces the time to migrate HP 3000 applications, completing and certifying from 45 to 75 percent of a migration in a few months. Target databases include Oracle on HP-UX or Linux, MySQL on Linux, SQL Server on Windows 2000, and DB2 on Linux. “Developers can use our DLL library on their Windows workstation to access TurboIMAGE or Oracle via TurboIMAGE intrinsics,” said iMaxsoft’s Lee Tsai. “OpenTURBO eliminates the need to re-code applications for ODBC compliance.”
