Some HP 3000 users
who acquired their systems within the past three years do not currently
enjoy HP software support services. It seems the only way their HP 3000
systems will continue to work beyond December 31, 1999 is if they purchase
return to support for up to 18 months of back support fees in
order to acquire MPE/iX 5.5 with patches or MPE/iX 6.0 both
Y2K-compliant.
Does HP plan to offer these
customers a free upgrade to a Y2K-compliant version of MPE/iX as it
did for all of its HP 9000 customers with the offer of a free upgrade to
HP-UX 10.20? Kristy Ward, HP SSD: Yes, we
will provide a free upgrade to Y2K-compliant versions of our software if
they were purchased within the last three years, regardless of whether
theyre on support or not. |
