Sendmail is getting some beta testing of an official HP 3000
release The project to deliver a supported version of the sendmail electronic mail engine is moving once more, as the official CSY sendmail 8.12.1 beta distribution became available for downloading. Browsing to jazz.external.hp.com/src/sendmail will yield HP software that is destined for the 7.5 release of MPE/iX, according to HP engineer Mark Bixby. The beta test period lasts through the end of November. These are the bits that will be submitted to 7.5, Bixby reported, but anybody running 6.0 or later is eligible to participate in the beta, including HP employees. Please see the web page for full details. If you are currently running sendmail 8.9.1 from bixby.org, I strongly urge you to check out the 8.12.1 beta because it is a much better port internally. The CSY group is waiting on support for sendmail from the HP 9000 group in HP, and in the meantime will be doing the testing on the sendmail release. Copyright The 3000 NewsWire. All rights reserved |
